Purpose of Qualification
The CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support is a nationally recognised qualification that prepares you to work as an aged care worker, disability support worker, or community care assistant across Australia.
The course covers person-centred support, infection control, manual handling, health safety, communication skills, and working with diverse clients. You will also complete 120 hours of supervised work placement in a registered aged care facility.

Clinton Institute's accelerated CHC33021 pathway is designed for students who can commit to full-time study. You will complete all theory units across 13 consecutive weeks, then undertake 120 hours of supervised placement in a registered aged care facility.
Typical weekly schedule: 3 days of face-to-face theory and simulated skills training at Clinton Institute's Melbourne CBD campus (Level 9, 313 La Trobe Street), plus 1 day of self-paced online learning. Work placement runs concurrently in Weeks 11–13 at 40 hours per week.

University pathways into Social Work, Nursing, or Allied Health are also accessible following completion of the Diploma level.
Qualification Entry Requirements
There are no certified qualification requirements for this qualification. To enrol in this course, students must provide evidence that they:
- • Are at least 18 years of age
- • Have successfully completed Year 11 in Australia, or an equivalent overseas
- • Meet one of the following English proficiency requirements:
- • Have appropriate Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) skills, as determined by Clinton Institute via the LLND assessment administered prior to enrolment.
o Evidence of a valid IELTS score of 6.0 or other equivalents in English Language tests including Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT), Pearson Test of English (PTE), Doulingo English Test, and Cambridge English (CAE).
o Successfully complete the pathway with recognized ELICOS providers, as determined by Clinton Institute via exit score of IELTS score of 6.0 equivalents.
o Student have successfully completed their Year 12 or equivalent in English Language
Clinton Institute (RTO 41597, CRICOS Provider Code 03540C) conducts the LLND assessment through a suitable Trainer and Assessor or the Director of Studies.
For international Students, it is a condition of entry that upon acceptance, students provide evidence of having an Australian Student Visa (subclass 500).

Simulated Care Environments — Practical Skills Training
Clinton Institute's CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support is delivered through a combination of theory classrooms and fully equipped simulated care environments at our Melbourne CBD campus (Level 9, 313 La Trobe Street).
Students practise real-world care skills including manual handling, infection control, safe transfer techniques, and personal care delivery using purpose-built training equipment and simulated care settings that replicate aged care and home care environments.
All practical sessions are delivered by qualified nurses and experienced aged care practitioners. Training is aligned to the CHC33021 units of competency and the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission standards.
Clinton Institute's Melbourne training location serves students from across the city — including students from Dandenong, Frankston, Richmond, Tarneit, Thomastown, and the Melbourne CBD — with tram and train access within walking distance.
Workplace Training — Structured Placement in Aged Care Facilities
As part of the CHC33021 qualification, all students complete mandatory practical placement in registered aged care facilities across Melbourne.
Clinton Institute has established partnerships with approximately 200 aged care facilities across Victoria, including Arcare (60+ residences across VIC, NSW, ACT, and QLD), Opal HealthCare (148 Care Communities nationally), and Benetas (13 residential homes across Victoria).
Clinton Institute arranges placement — you do not need to find your own facility. Placement coordinators work with students to match them to a suitable facility based on their location, transport access, and learning goals. All students complete 120 hours of supervised workplace training.
Placement settings include residential aged care homes, NDIS-provided home care, and community service organisations across Melbourne suburbs including Dandenong, Frankston, Richmond, Tarneit, Thomastown, Coburg, Preston, and the Melbourne CBD region.
During placement, students are supervised by qualified care staff at the host facility and assessed by Clinton Institute trainers during on-site workplace visits.
